I
went up to the hospital to see Ivan after teaching my ESL student. He was
extremely fatigued, but his fever is considerably lower, and often without
requiring Tylenol. They
are
not certain he has pneumonia and did another x-ray today. They also tested him
for malaria and that came out negative, however the results for the test re
Dengue fever will not be back for a few days.
They
are using a nebulizer with oxygen to help break up the stuff filling his lungs.
One nurse told Ivan his left lung sounded much better today. He says he is
breathing much more comfortably but during my visit he was very weak. He cycles
into different states of strength and energy throughout the day but tends to
feel best in the morning. He is still enjoying a private room, and though he
wants to come home, he realizes it is important to get a diagnosis (if in fact
they come up with one) and to feel stronger. He also wants more treatments so
his breathing continues to improve. Dr. Myhill Jones stated he has asthma.
Currently
he only has energy for short stay visitors but appreciates all the notes
and
expressions of concern and love.
I
hope he has a reasonable sleep tonight, and will report in tomorrow.
