Fresh Artichokes steamed above the Chiminea Mexican Style with Creole
Jambalaya, guacamole, fresh corn bread and Ivan's chocolate eclairs...... All we had to do was cross the street and meet our neighbors, Mexican and American (and Canadian). The blend of life continues:)

Getting Settled in Roca Azul
Hello Everyone,
Setting up life here after a 10 month absence is a big undertaking. It reminds me of the days I was a treeplanting cook and had to set up camp and kitchen in the bush. The details are different, but it takes at least a week before we feel settled.
Of course it's a bit different here. I just did about 6 loads of laundry, washing sheets and towels etc. that get a bit moldy during our 10 month absence. We have fun buying staples in all the colourful shops and markets but less fun finding out what has gone missing.
Our water pump was stolen, also Ivan shovel and various other small things that were in a shed outside with a metal grid ( in Mexico if a property is left abandoned, I don't think they consider it stealing). Jose found us a used water pump and installed it for $69. total. We are getting to know some new neighbors and enjoying reunions with folks we have known many years. This is the start of year 7 in Roca Azul.
We stayed overnight at Mark's and took his family (photos above) out for supper despite jet lag and altitude fatigue. They are such lovely people, it's a nice way to start our season.
Ivan is already gardening and I unpacked all my art supplies.
We just got connected to the internet today and realized what addicts we are. We had to wait 5 days and felt lost without it!
Here is our phone number in Mexico (we have a landline)
011 52 387 763 0438
(that is how it is dialed from Canada)
On Skype to landline you just need 52 387 763 0438
We also keep Skype on:
mintzy1
More to come....
Warmest Greetings from Sunny Mexico

Arrived January 12 - 2015 We are in CHAPALA, The sun is shining and the mountains looked wonderful from the SKY
Hello Everyone,
Smooth sailing. Steve kindly got us to a hotel near the airport on Jan 11. I booked it free on air miles and it was a luxurious surprise. There were bowls of green apples and a big cannister of hot chai!
We had to get up at 5 am, nearly missed the Courier Bus!!! but after that all went well.
Next time we might do better with a wheel chair in both YVR and GDL. Ivan had a tough time on the long airport walks.
But we are both delighted to be here with all our baggage.
Next challenge will be organizing some kind of vehicle rental arrangement.
But now we just want lots of cold water:)
Great to be in our second home,
The mountains have bear claws from the sky - and Mount Rainier was exquisite peaking through the clouds.
More to come when we get internet moments, eventually we will have internet in our CASA,
Warmest Greetings to All from Mexico
