Heading to Punt de Mita on the Coast near Puerto Vallarta next week

Heading to Punta de Mita Feb. 24 for a few days

We are heading to Posado Paraiso, Punta Mita next week. Bette, (My Spanish teacher and our friend)  is joining us and we will travel slowly stopping en route so Ivan does not have to drive too many hours all at once.  This is an area close to Puerto Vallarta, but far enough away so that it should be more rural. We have never taken this road in Jalisco, but Alberto says it is lovely, safe and we must stop in Mascota and San Sebastian. (both “autentica pueblos”) We will overnight in one of these towns so that we see more of the countryside and don’t rush to do the whole trip in one day. Bette is thrilled as she lost her husband 5 years ago and has not had many opportunities to travel and we are a great trio.  Her fluent Spanish will be much appreciated as well as her company.

The hotel is call Posado Paraiso in Punt Mita (northern tip of Bahia de Banderas).  The phone number there is 52-329-291-5001
The plan is to leave Feb. 24 and return Feb. 28 but if we really like it (or have car trouble with our well maintained used vehicle) we could be back in Roca Azul a couple of days later.  We will have our lap top computer with us to check emails and stay in touch.

Summer has come to Roca Azul.  The weather is much warmer and evenings are comfortable, no need for the heater.

Last night Ivan made an amazing feast for some of our favourite people here, our neighbors Alberto and Natalie (Mexican) and Ken and Kris (Californians).  Both these couples have been paramount in introducing us to the delights of this area over our 3 separate stays in the Chapala area.  Alberto is an artist, with passionate political sentiments that we share.  Ken is a musician now mastering the harmonica, however he has a background in classical guitar, piano and sings with heart.  I will admit a quantity of Tequila was consumed, but it was a sweet evening with folks that feel commonality on many fronts. Ken played for us, and sang love songs to his wonderful partner Kris.

Ivan out did himself with delicious food and is now totally comfortable cooking with little equipment and lots of ingenuity.

The colourful blooms and flowers everywhere enliven the atmosphere this time of year.  Though seasonal changes are not as dramatic as Canada, one tunes into the subtleties.

Viaje bien,

Evi y Ivan

Jovial gathering, Artist friends both Mexican and American (and us)
