I can't believe we've been here 3 weeks. Our CASA and settling in, health issues and various appointments have kept us busy. I've hardly had time to spend a day around the CASA watching the Hibiscus open and I yearn to start my silk painting projects.
Ivan had a bit of edema in his ankles and feet upon arrival ( in fact his feet were rather large when we got off the plane). Our travel medical insurance lady is so sweet, she encouraged us to see Dr Lastra.
Prior to seeing Dr Lastra, Ivan went to the community hospital and saw a very nice young English speaking doctor who immediately put him on a diuretic. This was wise, but disturbed his sleep. Our travel medical insurance lady, Julie Ray, has been a great support. She encouraged Ivan to see Dr Lastra, a scholarly doctor who suggested better more effective meds. He's also a pain specialist and offered an injection that is a time lapse anti-inflammatory (Ivan has a lot of arthritic pain, and at times excruciating pain in his left shoulder). It's 3 days later and I see great improvements. The edema swelling in his feet is nearly gone and he is experiencing less pain. I often find there are medical solutions in Mexico that don't exist in Canada (and the reverse is true too). So having both these countries as a resource is fantastic.
Following the appointment we had a great lunch at TANGO in Ajijic then went to the RC for our therapeutic swim.
Unfortunately I've been trying to keep a tooth infection at bay, but by last night it was throbbing. I just started the antibiotics my dentist thought I wouldn't need and hope the pain subsides.
So once we get over our medical hump, life will flow with greater ease and into warmer nights and morning will be welcome.
Ivan has a little tropical flower garden, and a herb garden. I plucked a few mandarins off the tree in the yard and collected lots of fresh fragrant lemons. We already ate all the bananas off our tree and Deb brought us a huge bag of these enormous lemons from a tree down the street. They look like oranges but are really juicy and great for salads, juice and soups. Such wonderful gifts, such abundance!
Hope the rains back home decide to stop for a while, and that everyone is doing well. We are still stealing the internet from our neighbour so I can't even read this again, excuse mistakes!!
Greetings from Roca Azul
Evi
